PROBLEM
Navigating the Canine Cuisine Maze: Bridging the Information Gap in a Saturated Dog Food Market
In a saturated market with numerous dog food brands, pet owners struggle to choose the highest quality food due to a lack of easily accessible and comprehensive information. This informational gap leads to frustration among users seeking to make informed choices for their pets.
“How might we help pet owners easily access and compare comprehensive information about dog food quality, enabling them to make informed choices with confidence?”

Solo Student Project for Google ux/ui Certification
This UX design project was completed as part of the Google UX certification intensive UX Design course. Utilizing user research methods learned in the program, including user interviews and surveys, I designed wireframes and prototypes to address key pain points identified within the existing user flow, ultimately leading to an improved user experience.

THE SOLUTION
Vet-Verified Nutrition: Enhancing Pet Owners' Confidence in Choosing Quality Dog Food
WHITE PAPER RESEARCH
Studies have shown that people are more likely to trust and follow recommendations from experts in a particular field.
Starting with white paper research, I began to draw from research Which drives the feelings of trust, belief, loyalty. When I stumbled upon this eye-opening statistic from The American Political Science Review:
“..researchers writing in the American political science review in 1987 found that when the expert’s view was aired on national television, public opinion shifted as much as 4%”
COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS
Bridging Gaps in Pet Nutrition
Upon evaluating four prominent dog food brands in the organic and nutrient-based space, a notable deficiency was identified in professional support and educational resources. This void forms the foundation for our solution — a user-friendly platform developed by board-certified veterinarians, seamlessly integrating expert guidance and enriching educational materials to enhance the pet owner's journey in selecting and providing optimal nutrition for their pets.
USER INTERVIEWS
My interviewees were three times more inclined to make a successful purchase
Through user interviews, a clear trend emerged: Interviewees were three times more inclined to make a successful purchase when they perceived reliable support from a credible source. I’ve conducted interviews with 4 dog owners who are constantly searching for an organic dog food to meet the needs of their pets. But fail to be committed to any on the market.
MAIN INSIGHTS
Integrity Matters: The Link Between Trust, Competency, and Declining Dog Food App Purchases
In my user interviews, the recurrent issue with previous dog food apps was a lack of trust and expertise from other brands, a trend reaffirmed by the affinity map, highlighting how the absence of integrity and competency leads to customer frustration and, consequently, a decline in purchases.
PERSONA’S
DESIGN
Setbacks + new directions
After initially exploring various designs over two weeks, my perspective on the app evolved. Originally conceived as a scannable tool for enhanced in-store experiences, it transformed into an ordering app, driven by the goal of fostering customer loyalty and community engagement, and interactive educational elements.
TESTING + IMPROVING
3 major improvements in my design
Based on various feedback I continually iterated my design over the span of 6 weeks- with 3 major improvements.
